Breaking an Old Habit
I was really looking forward to the first working weeks of 2017.
I a prepared a few surprises for my team and I had one of my most favorite jobs scheduled for three days (a training for new coaches, it is always a great group of students and a fantastic deep work).
But right on Monday I got sick. With a high fever I joined the local flu epidemic.
And here I was, struggling for a couple of hours with the thought that I HAVE TO do the training, no matter what.
This was because I knew it would be difficult for the school to get a replacement on such a short notice and because I did not want to disappoint my students.
It is an old, deep rooted habit that I always have to be reliable, even at high personal cost.
You may think that I should not be facing challenges like that when I am teaching others how to become balanced and empowered. You may think I should have figured it all out already.
The truth is that it is a life-long journey. If somebody tells you they have it all perfectly together and they are never weak, do not trust them. That would mean they are not human :-)
We all have our little things we struggle with. That is the nature of human experience.
Fortunately enough, I did recognize this old habit, took a deep breath, and took the courage to put myself first. I called the school, cancelled the training and spent the rest of the day in deep satisfaction. Is it selfish? No, it is healthy.
I know I would have made it, but I´d have suffered. And we do not need to suffer. We need to find balance. And in balance we find peace.
When did you have to take a deep breath this week?

Courage to PAUSE
My good friend told me some time ago: “You have to say “NO” to what is good in your life so that you can say “YES” to what is best”. I always found this challenging. My life is packed with wonderful opportunities and I´d love to do so many things! But every day only has 24hours, it´s a simple math.Read more
Let´s Not Take Things Personally
One of my students asked me last week: „OK, I understand I should not take things personally, but how am I supposed to REALY DO IT in the moment when my emotions are triggered and I do feel like it is personal?”Read more
